THERE IS A CONSENSUS AMONG THE COUNTRY THAT IS NECESSARY TO BUILD STRONG AND SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITIES THAT NOT ONLY AID FAMILIES WHEN THEY'RE IN A CRISIS, BUT THE INTENTIONAL AND SUPPORTING THEM BEFORE THEY'RE IN CRISIS.

THE UNIVERSAL CHALLENGES FACED OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS HAVE COMPOUNDED THE STRUGGLES OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITIES.

WE'RE ALREADY FACING THE HEIGHTENED URGENCY FOR US TO CONSIDER THAT WHAT THE KAUFFMAN COUNTY IS DOING TO SUPPORT THESE CHILDREN EACH YEAR.

THE MONTH OF APRIL IS DEDICATED TO RECOGNIZE THE CRITICAL WORK BEING DONE ACROSS THE GREAT STATE TO HELP FAMILIES AND SUPPORT CHILDREN BY OFFERING THEM ACCESSIBLE LIFELINES THAT MITIGATE THE CHALLENGES THEY FACE BEHIND MANY FAMILIES THAT HAVE SUCCEEDED THROUGH THESE CHALLENGES ARE STRONG COMMUNITIES THAT PROVIDE A WAY FOR FAMILIES TO MEET THEIR NEEDS.

CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE SUPPORTED EVERY DAY THROUGH THE DILIGENT WORK AND TIRELESS ADVOCACY UNDERTAKEN BY THE KAUFFMAN COUNTY FAMILIES, FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, HOUSES OF FAITH, ADVOCACY GROUPS, NONPROFITS, SCHOOLS, HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS, SOCIAL WORKERS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES.

YOU KNOW, WE HAVE A LOT OF INSTITUTIONS HERE THAT DO HELP.

IT'S A COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES FOR OUR CHILDREN.

WE HAVE REACH AS CHILD PLACEMENT AGENCY IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING FOSTER HOMES FOR OUR KIDS WHO NEED IT.

THE BIKERS AGAINST CHILDREN'S ABUSE, THAT'S AN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION.

THEY AFFIRM NORA SHELTER FOUNDATION DEDICATED TO HANSON QUALITY OF LIFE FOR OUR CHILDREN.

AND, YOU KNOW, Y'ALL DO A LOT OF VOLUNTEER WORK.

YOU RAISE FUNDS, YOU GET PEOPLE INVOLVED.

AND THAT'S THE ONLY WAY WE CAN HELP OUR CHILDREN TODAY CUZ THEY'RE UNDER STRESS.

AND WE'RE LOOKING FOR MORE FUNDING ON THAT SO THAT THAT'LL GET SPAYING AND NEUTERING PETS IS THE LONG-TERM SOLUTION TO THE PET OVERPOPULATION HERE? SURE.

SO THE, YOU KNOW, THE VOLUME OF ACTIVITY IS UP.

I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S JUST CUZ IT'S CLOSER AND IT'S HERE, BUT WHO KNOWS.

THIS WILL ONLY BE OWNERS OR COUNTY, UH, THINGS GOING FORWARD.

SO WE WILL NEVER TRANSFER IN ANY OTHER ANIMALS TO THIS FACILITY.

AND I, I THINK THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE IN THE CONVERSATION THAT, UH, YOU WOULD HAVE WITH THOSE CONSTITUENTS IS YES, WHILE WE'RE HELPING THIS PROJECT OUT A LITTLE BIT TO SUCCEED, WE'RE TALKING ALMOST A 2000% INCREASE IN THE TOTAL TAX VALUE THAT THIS PARTICULAR PROPERTY IS GOING TO BRING US BY ENTERING INTO THIS AGREEMENT VERSUS IF WE DON'T ENTER INTO THE AGREEMENT AND THE PROPERTY STAYS AT IT AS IT IS.

AND I THINK WITH ALL OF THOSE FACTS, A CONSTITUENT SAYS, YOU KNOW, CONCEPTUALLY WE PROBABLY STILL DON'T LIKE THE CONCEPT OF IT, BUT WE UNDERSTAND THAT, YOU KNOW, THIS PROPERTY IS NOW GOING TO MAKE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE TO THE COUNTY AND TO THE BUDGET BY DOING THIS.

AND THEN, UH, I THINK ALSO THE ESDS UH, PROFITED FROM IT AT THE TIME ON THE THREE 13 AS WELL, UH, BECAUSE MONEY WAS COMING BACK TO THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS.

SO I THINK IT WAS A BIT, WE DON'T HAVE THAT NOW.

SO THAT'S KIND OF LIKE, NOW YOU LOOK AT IT, I THINK WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT IS GOING FORWARD, ESPECIALLY WITH NOT KNOWING WHAT THE ECONOMY'S GONNA DO THIS YEAR AND HOW EVERYTHING'S GONNA FALL, THAT UH, YOU KNOW, WE'RE COMMITTING TO A LONG TERM DEAL.

IT WAS, THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEST THING AIN'T EVER HAPPENED.

CAUSE THE MONEY, IT CAME IN UNDER THE THREE 13, EVERYTHING ELSE.

BUT IF THAT DID BECOME A DEVELOPMENT, HOUSING DEVELOPMENT, HOW MUCH MORE MONEY WOULD BE COMING INTO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH ALL THE GROWTH IN THE SCHOOLS RIGHT NOW? CAUSE IF THE FUNDING'S NOT THERE, UH, FOR THE TAX DEAL, THEN THE STATE'S GONNA RAISE APPRAISAL VALUES, WHICH IS GOING TO PUSH TAXES UP ANYWAY.

DOES IT MAKE SENSE? SO I KNOW THE ARGUMENT WAS MADE AND, AND THE PEOPLE IN SCURRY HAD NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT THE SOLAR FARM.

THEY COMPLIMENTED IT SAYS, YOU KNOW, I'D RATHER HAVE IT THAN 5,000 HOMES BESIDE ME.

UH, THEY EVEN SAID THAT WHEN SOMETHING WENT WRONG ON THE FENCE LINE, THEY WERE OUT THERE HELPING OUT.

SO THERE WAS NO NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FOR THE SOLAR FARM ITSELF.

HUNDREDS OF AMOUNTS OF INFRASTRUCTURE NEEDED, ROADS, SEWAGE, ELECTRICITY, UH, PROVIDED TO THOSE HOMES, YOU KNOW, WITH, WITH YOUR CURRENT STAFF.

I MEAN, THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT TAX BOOST WITHOUT AN ASK ON THE BACKSIDE TO PROVIDE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF SERVICES IN THE SAME WAY FOR THAT AMOUNT OF TAX REVENUE THAT, THAT AMOUNT OF HOMES AND THOSE FAMILIES, UH, WOULD'VE BROUGHT.
